For over 130 years, the name Julius Berger has stood for successful and exceptional construction projects. Today, Julius Berger Nigeria and Julius Berger International form the core of the Julius Berger Group. Their main expertise: the design, construction, repair and operation of diverse and complex civil engineering structures in the fields of building construction, infrastructure and industrial construction for the oil and gas industry, among others.

In 2019, both companies plan to relaunch their websites to redesign their brand presence and gain a flexible tool for image building, marketing and recruiting.

Individual goals

In the course of the website relaunch, Julius Berger International wants to sharpen its brand profile as a general planner with additional competencies. For this purpose, a clear positioning as well as an independent corporate design had to be developed - without losing the clear reference to the umbrella brand.

As a large listed company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has more diverse requirements for the information structure and content of its website: In addition to the comprehensive presentation of the company structure, group of companies and services, this includes information for investors, the press and potential employees.

Special challenges

The task is to develop a modular website that meets the respective requirements of both companies in terms of design and technology. In addition, Julius Berger International is based in Wiesbaden, while Julius Berger Nigeria is based in Nigeria - which requires completely remote project management.


Together with the management and employees of Julius Berger International, we developed the positioning "GeneralplanerPlus" in several workshops: The engineering office with practical experience that offers all general planning services in-house - supplemented by construction management services and project management. The target group is customers who demand the highest quality and planning reliability for their national and international construction projects.

We convey the brand essence of the result-oriented doer via the new claim "We make projects work" as well as a self-confident and value-added tonality. It is equally evident in the responsive design of the website: Dynamic, expansive shapes and surfaces, clear color contrasts, and a distinct visual language with 3D models. Where the menu navigation allows the user to find content quickly and directly, the individual page contents become an explorative experience thanks to exciting scroll effects and detailed animations. All of this is optimized for a wide range of devices and browsers.

Our team programmed in agile sprints and was able to implement all requirements by actively involving the respective project owners on the client side.

We developed all website modules centrally for the TYPO3 content management system and added individual customizations for Julius Berger International and Julius Berger Nigeria. In the final phase of the project, the content created was then independently entered and finalized.


Both websites will go live successfully at the beginning of 2020 - in time for Julius Berger Nigeria's 50th anniversary. The new digital presence conveys what has long distinguished both companies: Professionalism, modernity and successful construction projects.

We continue to implement the newly developed brand identity of Julius Berger International in several follow-up projects. In addition to new business stationery, this includes the design of new sales materials and corporate presentations as well as the conception and production of a corporate film.
